# How to Install SillyTavern on Android, Windows, Mac and iPhone (2026 Guide)

> The quickest way to get SillyTavern running on each device, plus a no-install option for iPhone.

SillyTavern is a free app for chatting and roleplaying with AI characters. You run it once, then use it in your browser at `http://127.0.0.1:8000`. It has no AI of its own, so after installing you connect a model such as Gemini, Claude or DeepSeek.

## Android

Install [Termux from F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.termux/) (the Play Store version is too old), open it, and run:

curl -fsSL https://rolezy.com/st | bash
```

When it finishes, open `http://127.0.0.1:8000` in Chrome. The [Android guide](/articles/install-sillytavern-android) covers starting it again and updating.

## Windows

Install [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/) (LTS) and [Git for Windows](https://gitforwindows.org/). In the folder where you want SillyTavern, open a terminal and run:

```bash
git clone https://github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern -b release
```

Open the new `SillyTavern` folder and double-click **Start.bat**. Your browser opens SillyTavern by itself.

## Mac and Linux

With Node.js and Git installed:

```bash
git clone https://github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern -b release
cd SillyTavern
./start.sh
```

## iPhone and iPad

iOS can't run SillyTavern on the phone, so you use a hosted one in Safari:

## Questions

### Is SillyTavern free?

Yes. You might pay for the AI model you connect, though Gemini and some OpenRouter models have free tiers.

### Release or staging?

`release` is stable. `staging` gets new features first and breaks more often. The Rolezy Android installer uses `staging` unless you add `--branch release`.

### Can I use the same chats on my phone and computer?

A local install keeps chats on that one device. To use the same chats everywhere, use a hosted SillyTavern like [Rolezy Plus](https://plus.rolezy.com/).
